The Tale of Tom Kitten

A classic children's book written and illustrated by Beatrix Potter, The Tale of Tom Kitten was published in 1907. Telling the story of a now-famous feline, Tom Kitten, the story is a treasured volume in children's classics libraries. The Tale of Tom Kitten tells the story of Tabitha Twitchit, a cat who invites her friends to her home for tea. She washes and dresses her three kittens, Mittens, Tom Kitten and Moppet, for the party, but within moments the kittens have soiled and lost their clothes after playing in the garden. Tabitha is furious, sends her children to bed and tells her friends they have the measles. While chatting with her friends over tea, Tabitha hears much noise coming from the kittens' bedroom. She comes in to find Tom Kitten, Mittens and Moppet jumping on their beds and making a mess of the room. The tale ends with several ducks finding the kittens' nice clothes in the garden from their playing earlier, the kittens' endless search for the nice clothes the next day, and a moral about manners and how children should behave.
