Some traditions are handed down, others are discovered. For Billy, life south of the Frosted River has been amicable, until he comes of age and is allowed to enter the Valley for the first time.

Now, during this most momentous of occasions in a young Dolarian’s life, Billy meets six other eligible children who will not only share in the discovery of their future trade, but also a far greater destiny than any of them could have hoped for. For it was not possible that they should meet by accident, but how well can you trust anyone you’ve just met. In just a few short days the Rite of Passage Festival turns into an uproar when the children discover the run-down shack of a man believed to be dead. Now the children have to race to stop a dirty evil from destroying the Empire and the sacred traditions along with it.
