Day and Night: Selected Poems from 1990 - 2016 is award-winning poet Dae Soen Sa Nim (Great Zen Master) Chang Sik Kim’s eighteenth volume of poetry. The poems in this volume are presented chronologically, book by book. Bookending the volume are two new poems, “Day” and “Night,” which begin and end the collection of poems and bring the volume full-circle.

Zen Master Kim’s poems portray the meaning of life and death in our human world and in the natural world. They tell stories and present new insights into how all things are interconnected. Zen Master Kim’s poems are instruments of Zen teaching. They show us the hidden sides of life, take us on far journeys and dispense questions for us to ponder. In 2014, Zen Master Kim was awarded the International PEN Korean Center’s annual Special Literature Award for his earlier poetry volume Great Nature: Poems for All of Nature.
