Another summer ending.

Another semester about to start.

And another football season kicking off with my usual lack of enthusiasm.

As the only daughter to the head coach at the University of Hunton, and the sister to the star running back on the team, my quota for all things football is exhausted. I ran out of caring about the sport years ago, but I support how important it is to them. So long as I mind my own business, make sure my dad doesn't overwhelm himself with stress, and study hard, I'll be well on my way to graduating in a couple of years to get a teaching job and eventually start a family with a nice, normal, decent guy.

A guy who won't be at all connected to the psychotic fandom that the world of football demands.

All I know is that as the fall approaches, I will most definitely not be interested in the cocky quarterback who is transferring over to play for Hunton U.

Another list of new drills and plays to memorize.

And another established team to fit in with and be counted as one of the players who belonged.

Moving over as a sophomore with a lot of promise and a knack for never losing, I hate that I come with baggage, too. I escaped the worst of a betting and cheating scandal at my former college. I didn't do anything wrong. But according to Sam Moore, Hunton's all-star champion who detests me at first sight, I'm worthless and untrustworthy.

It's not going to be easy for me, paranoid that someone will sabotage me again. It won't be fun, taking crap from the senior players who assume I'm an outsider who can't be a leader on the field.

All I'm confident about is my goal to focus and play my best. There's no room in my schedule for partying or entertaining a long list of girls who want a piece of me—which means I shouldn't have any trouble avoiding any thoughts about Coach's infuriatingly stubborn daughter who is supposed to be off-limits to me.
