This was a sweet book that with each turn of the pages gives us an inside look at the well developed and engaging characters of Javier a store owner and Sophie the sassy nurse. The storyline is well written and kept me entertained.

Sophie deal with the physical scars of surgery from breast cancer and the emotional scars of her fiance breaking up with from it and how she doesn’t feel attractive anymore. She just wanted shoes from Javier’s store, but he saw something in her and wouldn’t give up his pursuit to make her feel like a woman worth loving again. I loved that he’s a wonderful cook and artist. Sophie was pretty great too as a nurse caring about her patients and her landlady. There were plenty of funny moments along with the poignant ones. The fairy costume she wore on the first date made me laugh. Breast cancer is such a horrible disease, I’m glad the author chose to write about it and show that her character coming out from the other side of it stronger and beautiful.
