Herriot, whose real name was James Alfred Wight, based this charming slice-of-life story upon his own early experiences as an unseasoned and less-than-confident veterinarian taking on his first real assignment in a tiny and remote village. As he gets to know the town’s colorful characters and handles emotionally impactful cases, the rustic setting slowly becomes a part of him. I have read this many times and it never fails to entertain. I can just picture the Yorkshire Dales so vividly and every animal he writes about. Enjoy!

I enjoyed this book tremendously. It is about a young man and his adventures as an English veterinarian. A treasure trove for animal lovers.
