The Seventh Reel

A failed actress turned film archivist discovers a lost silent film that may prove California was once something far stranger than history remembers.

When Selene Voss finds fragments of a forgotten 1920s film about Queen Calafia and the island of California, she believes she has uncovered a career-making archival mystery. But each reel reveals more than cinema. It exposes a hidden mythology of seduction, sacrifice, fame, conquest, and survival that stretches from ancient shores to Hollywood soundstages, tech empires, and the fractured dreams of Los Angeles.

As Selene follows the missing reels, she must confront the life she once chased, the failures that reshaped her, and the dangerous truth that some stories do not want to be owned.

The Seventh Reel is a literary supernatural mystery about fame, memory, consent, California mythology, and the dreamers who discover that almost is not failure.

4 Book Review - Strongly Recommended: A thematically rich, imaginatively structured novel with memorable characters, evocative prose, and a powerful treatment of consent and cultural memory, though its length and repetition may limit its appeal for pace-focused readers. - True Voice Review
