When Angus Armstrong arrives at the bookstore of the college Bob attends, he pays in cash for Bob's signature, and his generosity escalates to the point that he pays bills Bob never asked him to. Bob's pride rebels, but Angus's patronage keeps him afloat until his work finally sells, though he has to negotiate boundaries to keep his dignity.
