The Hour of the Dragon

First serialized in Weird Tales in 1935–1936, The Hour of the Dragon stands as Robert E. Howard's only full-length novel of Conan the Cimmerian—and the epic that crowned the legend. Conan, now King of Aquilonia, is struck down at the height of his power by a conspiracy of traitors and the resurrected sorcerer Xaltotun, last wizard of ancient Acheron. Stripped of crown, armor, and allies, the barbarian must fight his way back across a treacherous kingdom, aided by a beautiful slave named Zenobia and the mysterious Heart of Ahriman, to reclaim his throne in a final battle between steel and sorcery. This edition presents the complete, unabridged original text exactly as Howard wrote it, accompanied by a new introduction and reader's notes illuminating the Hyborian Age, the pulp era, and the author's remarkable craft. Part of The Founding Texts Library.
