That Girl Montana

A spirited young woman raised far from polite society, known across the mining camps and mountain trails simply as 'That Girl Montana,' stands at the heart of Marah Ellis Ryan's beloved 1901 romance of the American West. Set among the towering pines, rushing rivers, and snow-crowned peaks of the Montana wilderness, the novel follows Montana as her fierce independence, loyal heart, and hidden past draw an outsider into a world of prospectors, pioneers, and proud Native characters portrayed with a warmth rare in the fiction of its day. Adventure, wit, and tender romance combine in a story that made Ryan one of the most popular Western writers of her generation. This edition presents the complete, unabridged original text, newly introduced and enriched with reader's notes illuminating the book's history and context. Part of The Founding Texts Library.
