The Curlytops at Uncle Frank's Ranch

Rainy-day mischief turns into ranch adventure when the Curlytops—Janet and Teddy Martin, with their curly hair and quick imaginations—try to outwit boredom with a make-believe hospital game and chocolate "medicine." Their playful world grows wilder when Baby William, nicknamed Trouble, joins in, Teddy becomes a bucking bronco, and a tumble sends the children from comic pretend play into real alarm. Once the rain clears, the family's lively life continues with Nicknack the goat-cart, but Teddy's daring driving and Trouble's curiosity soon point toward something bigger: Uncle Frank's invitation to spend the summer on a ranch in Montana. Before the move, Trouble and Nicknack vanish, setting off a neighborhood search that deepens the mystery. At Ring Rosy Ranch, the children's adventures take a gentler turn when Ted and Janet discover a sick pony in a cave, bring him water in their hats, and name him Clipclap. Their concern leads them to Doctor Bond, who enlists ranch foreman Jim Mason's help. Warm, funny, and full of family spirit, the story blends sibling banter, animal rescue, and the promise of wide-open Western adventures.
