The soil is dying. The forests are shattered. And New Providence is running out of time.

Inside the laboratory, Dr. Tehra Miller and her team of scientists achieve a breakthrough. But taking it outside the safety of the city's walls into the vast, silent expanse that used to be the Eastern Forest yields some surprises—nature is no longer playing by mankind's rules. In a world where scientific hubris has forced the hand of evolution, a single rogue geneticist's intervention sparks an uncontrollable transformation. Suddenly the wilderness is waking up. The animals are starting to organize, to build, to communicate … and to remember.

Told through a mosaic of linked stories—from the cold offices of the city's ruling Electors and the secretive labs of desperate scientists, to the isolated cabins of unsuspecting homesteaders observing a profound ecological shift—this eco-speculative journey explores what happens when humanity's dominance recedes.

When the binary between animals and humans becomes blurred, who will inherit the Earth?
