Her mother's moan of despair is not meant for 12 year old Siri to hear. She does, though, and starts to wonder if she is just a burden to her parents. Siri knows she is often gloomy and so damn clumsy. She does not have a single friend. But now she feels alienated even from her mother.

Siri's father sees both her struggle and the beauty of her internal world. Her composed and absent presence hides something wonderfully unique behind it. He encourages her to start writing so this world of hers would open up for everyone to see.

Writing helps but Siri still yearns for friendship. Even an attempt at defending a bullied classmate leads into a fight with the bullied girl. Why is she the way she is? Maybe Siri's mother is right when she suggests Siri might be on the autism spectrum...
