Publisher Description
Want to become an approved driving instructor (ADI)? Part 1 is the first of three tests, and only about 37% of candidates pass it (2025 to 2026). This book teaches you what the four bands ask, gives you a written method for hazard perception, and lets you practise until 85 out of 100 feels routine.
The test has two parts: 100 multiple-choice questions in 1 hour 30 minutes, then 14 hazard perception clips. You need 85 out of 100 overall and at least 20 out of 25 in each of the four bands, plus 57 out of 75 on hazard perception. A strong score in three bands does not rescue a weak fourth.
What is inside:
- 16 short chapters you can read on a phone: the route to qualifying, test day and a revision plan, then the four bands (road procedure; traffic signs, car control and pedestrians; the driving test, disabilities and the law; publications and instructional techniques), and a method for hazard perception and exam technique
- 3 appendices: key numbers at a glance, band checklists with a revision tracker, and a glossary
- 800 original practice questions in 32 sets of 25, every one with the correct answer and a short explanation
- 4 full mock tests of 100 questions, 25 per band, in the same layout as the real multiple-choice part
Every rule is tied to its source: GOV.UK, the Highway Code and DVSA publications, read in October 2026. Where a point could not be confirmed, the book says so and tells you to check the current DVSA guidance. The book covers Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales), not Northern Ireland.
All questions are original. This is an independent study guide: it is not produced, endorsed or approved by DVSA, and it does not contain real test questions or hazard perception clips.
Book 3 in the Pass the Test | UK Series.
How this book was made: written with the help of artificial intelligence tools, under the author's direction; every question was checked against its source.
