“A knockout.” —Mary Kubica
From the New York Times bestselling author of The Last Flight comes a twisted con-woman thriller about two women out for revenge—or is it justice?
Two women. Many aliases.
Meg Williams. Maggie Littleton. Melody Wilde. Different names for the same person, depending on the town, depending on the job. She's a con artist who erases herself to become whoever you need her to be—a college student. A life coach. A real estate agent. Nothing about her is real. She slides alongside you and tells you exactly what you need to hear, and by the time she's done, you've likely lost everything.
Kat Roberts has been waiting ten years for the woman who upended her life to return. And now that she has, Kat is determined to be the one to expose her. But as the two women grow closer, Kat's long-held assumptions begin to crumble, leaving Kat to wonder who Meg's true target is.
The Lies I Tell is a twisted domestic thriller that dives deep into the psyches and motivations of two women and their unwavering quest to seek justice for the past and rewrite the future.

APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
Two women thirsting for revenge collide in Julie Clark’s nail-biting thriller. Meg Williams is a con artist who targets abusive men. Kat Roberts got unwittingly drawn into one of Meg’s plots years before and still hates her for ruining her life. When Meg chooses local politician Ron Ashton as her next mark, Kat finally sees the chance to get back at her tormentor. Meg, meanwhile, has a vendetta against Ron for conning her mother. This puts the two women on an intense collision course. Whoever said that hell hath no fury like a woman scorned was definitely talking about Meg and Kat—their revenge-fueled game of cat and mouse just keeps escalating, with each deception building toward a shocking finale. The Lies I Tell is a thrilling feminist take on the classic grifter tale.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
This intriguing thriller from bestseller Clark (The Last Flight) focuses on two 30-something women who are bent on revenge. Posing as a real estate agent, Meg Williams is a con artist who returns to Los Angeles to get even with Ron Ashton, a local politician who swindled her mother from their home when Meg was a teenager, forcing the two of them to live in a van. Unbeknownst to Meg, journalist/copyeditor Kat Roberts has been tracking Meg and is ready to take her down for a brief encounter that ruined Kat's life 10 years earlier. Vowing to expose Meg for her crimes, Kat pretends she's interested in buying a house and hires Meg as her agent. Each is aware that the other woman is lying, but they manage to develop a close friendship. Using flashbacks and alternating points of view, Clark skillfully fleshes out the strong, multifaceted characters. The story nicely mixes brisk plot points with slow burning reveals as it builds to a satisfying conclusion. Clark doesn't disappoint.

Just ok
Ok thriller
Why!
No no no! Too obvious and such a stupid ending
A solid weekend read
Interesting, well developed characters. If you rooted for Robin Hood, you’ll root for vigilante Meg Williams. A woman seeking justice with a bit of retribution against an arrogant male always makes for a fun read.
