Publisher Description

A beloved classic that captures the powerful bond between man and man’s best friend.

Billy has long dreamt of owning not one, but two, dogs. So when he’s finally able to save up enough money for two pups to call his own—Old Dan and Little Ann—he’s ecstatic. It doesn’t matter that times are tough; together they’ll roam the hills of the Ozarks.

Soon Billy and his hounds become the finest hunting team in the valley. Stories of their great achievements spread throughout the region, and the combination of Old Dan’s brawn, Little Ann’s brains, and Billy’s sheer will seems unbeatable. But tragedy awaits these determined hunters—now friends—and Billy learns that hope can grow out of despair, and that the seeds of the future can come from the scars of the past.

A MUST Re-Read!

This was the first book I ever read back when I was in grade school. I recently bought it on iBook for my daughter to read. I decided to read a couple pages for old times sake and ended up reading half the book in the first sitting. I finished it two sittings later and with tears in my eyes as a grown man as they were decades before. An awesome story of a boys life with his family, two best friends and God.

My sister gave me this book when she moved away so I read it and it had me crying for days 😭 it’s such an amazing book and I love it! I’m a middle school teacher and I read this to my students and some of them cried too, I would definitely recommend this book to anyone and everyone!
