APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
J. D. Robb’s near-future romantic mysteries are a kicky joy, and this one is no exception. Lt. Eve Dallas is called to investigate a murder most foul when a man is stabbed at the opening of a brand-new theater—while performing on stage. Fittingly, the killing takes place during a performance of Agatha Christie’s Witness for the Prosecution, forcing Eve and her billionaire husband, Roarke, to wade through the excuses, alibis, and egos of the entire acting troupe in order to discover the truth. Though it takes place in a slightly futuristic New York City—complete with droid servants and automated cooking devices—Witness in Death is a classic whodunit full of timeless human motives. Robb (the nom de plume of beloved author Nora Roberts) is a solid mystery constructor, but where she really excels is in the affectionate banter between her long-married sleuths. This installment in the best-selling In Death series is as elegant and enjoyable as a well-made cocktail.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
It is 2059, and New York City homicide lieutenant Eve Dallas's husband, Roarke, is producing a revival of Agatha Christie's thriller Witness for the Prosecution. On opening night, when the villainous character Leonard Vole gets his just deserts, someone substitutes a kitchen knife for the prop knife, and the actor, Richard Draco, is stabbed through the heart. Trouble is, in time-tested British mystery fashion, everyone in the cast had good reason to despise Richard, a misogynist who seduced and discarded beautiful young women, including one whom he knew to be his daughter. It's up to Eve to solve the case, an emotionally difficult task as she is no stranger to incest herself: she was beaten and raped by her father before she managed to escape him. As Eve fights to keep her head above water, she tries to bond at a deeper level with Roarke, so that her future will heal the pain of her past. Robb (aka Nora Roberts) serves up a welcome mix of edgy, sexy lovers, newfangled gadgets, classic whodunit and noir.

Witness in Death
Eve Dallas is great as usual. This author never lets you down when it comes to her murder stories. This one is a murder inside a murder play. With so many twists and turns you think this one person is it but then find out it’s not, and this one is based on an old black and white movie/play, that makes you want to watch the old movie. I love J.D.Robb stories. Got about 30 paperbacks and just now starting to get them e books. Nora Robert’s is great too., try her other books too.
Title okay.
It was a little wordy but a fun read as J.D. Robb is famous for.
