Joe’s freaky ability to be as cold as ice has gotten him out of some deadly jams with his previous obsessions, but when things heat up with Mary Kay, his dark past threatens to catch up with him. Whether you’ve read the two earlier books in Caroline Kepnes’ massively popular You series (or seen the hit show based on them), you’ll be gripped by this scary-sexy thrill ride. Joe’s bizarre combination of romantic-hero charm and serial-killer ruthlessness continues to make for page-turning reading. I was excited to begin reading, but as I kept reading it wasn’t that interesting. It was really slow and predictable. The real events started happening near the end but not much. I can say that it wasn’t the best in the series. But it’s not that bad, I Like hidden bodies more.
When I thought Joe found his soulmate
I was so happy for Joe. He didn’t kill a single person this book, not on purpose anyways. He found Mary Kay and fell in love with her when he least expected it. He made a friend when he needed one the most. He lost his son, the mother of his child, and inevitably lost the love of his life when someone (not spoiling) had a moment of jealous rage. This was different than the other books but in the best way possible. This was seriously the best one out of all the books. The character development, the love I have for Joe now, and the way he was able to love truly and unconditionally. The plot and the plot twists had me unable to put my phone down when reading this. It’s sooo good.
A DISAPPOINTMENT
Everything you loved about Joe in the first two books is absent from this one. It felt like the author was forced by her publisher to make a trilogy out of what should have been a two-book series. It is too bad, because I really, really enjoyed the first two books.
