Black-feathered Spirit: The Microraptor

Black-feathered Spirit: The Microraptor is a popular science book for youth based on the 4D scientific film of the same name made by Beijing Museum of Natural History. With the AR technology, this book realized the unity of scientificity, readability and reading experience through combination of pictures, texts, 3D models and videos.The book composes of 4 chapters. The first chapter is an introduction of the Microraptor and its friends. The second chapter tells the story of “ugly baby dinosaur” and “ugly duckling” by presenting some of the shooting scripts of the film in the comic form. The third chapter introduces the evolution of the structure of feathers, telling the story of several kinds of dinosaurs with feathers, including Sinosauropteryx, Beipiaosaurus, Caudipteryx, Microraptor, and Confuciusornis. The fourth chapter focuses on the colorful feathers of the Microraptor, introducing the Chromogenic mechanism in animals and some related biological functions.
