Descrição da editora
The murder of one wannabe starlet may only be the beginning for a vicious killer.
When poor little New Hampshire rich girl Mindy Hollis gets lost in Los Angeles, her big sister hires private detective Ed Traynor to find her. Traynor and Hollis’s security chief, Jack McMahon, take off for Tinseltown to track down the aspiring actress—but they discover the only part she ever got was the one that killed her.
Their hunt for her killers takes them from the bowels of Mexico City to the glitz of Los Angeles, north to the set of The Black Orchid in Vancouver, and then back again to Hollywood, where the angels are dying in the dark. It’s up to Ed and Jack to save them before the film fades to black.
Skyhorse Publishing, as well as our Arcade, Yucca, and Good Books imprints, are proud to publish a broad range of books for readers interested in fiction—novels, novellas, political and medical thrillers, comedy, satire, historical fiction, romance, erotic and love stories, mystery, classic literature, folklore and mythology, literary classics including Shakespeare, Dumas, Wilde, Cather, and much more. While not every title we publish becomes a New York Times bestseller or a national bestseller, we are committed to books on subjects that are sometimes overlooked and to authors whose work might not otherwise find a home.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
In this hard-hitting crime novel from Hardacker (Sniper), Deborah Hollis, a member of an old-money New Hampshire family, hires PI Ed Traynor to find her sister, Melinda, who took off for Los Angeles to become an actress and hasn't been heard from in two months. Jack McMahon, a former L.A. cop who works for the Hollis family business, accompanies McMahon on the trip west. At an L.A. morgue, the two identify the gruesomely butchered body of a Jane Doe as that of Melinda, who they subsequently learn had a starring role in a snuff film. In their search for Melinda's killer, Traynor and McMahon get on the trail of pimp Vincent Beneventi, "a small-time piece of garbage who wants to be big-time," and Giuliano Olivas "Holy" Toledo, a sadistic Mexican film producer. Traynor goes after Toledo in Mexico City, while McMahon follows Kondrat Jablonski, a hot Hollywood director, to Vancouver, Canada. Despite some lack of continuity, Hardacker keeps the action flowing all the way to the violent climax.
