Have you ever heard the saying good things come to those who wait? 

Mystery is something we all must endure sometime in our lives. Every aspect of Natalie’s life seemed to scream mystery. Like any other freshman, she bravely endured the transitions. When she wasn’t frolicking, training, or studying by Lake Huron, she was asking questions about it. Living in a house nestled by its shores, she’d watched nature lavish and churn the cool waters. 

What was it about those waters that lured her so? She couldn’t help but ask questions about her Native American heritage, her tribal swan name, and even her nonexistent father. She rarely received satisfying answers because, like the waters of Lake Huron, her curiosity was constantly in a state of flux. The mysterious looks she’d witnessed from her mother and grandmother didn’t help matters either.

By day, she grew accustomed to the many aspects. Observations merged with enigma which amplified a restlessness and spawned greater questions. Hanging on every word of her grandmother’s native wisdom, she couldn’t help but compare these same wise pearls to her own restless soul.

Like the pearl nestled within the shell, her innocent senses were waiting for the right moment to open up. When warnings about the night were forthcoming, she added them to the mix. At first.
