Chemistry 7

Chemistry 7 is the first chemistry book in a series of three books, targeting students aged 13-14, in the 7th grade in Sweden. Chemistry 7 covers the following concepts: Observations and experiments using both analog and digital tools. Formulation of investigable questions, planning, execution, evaluation of results, and documentation with images, tables, diagrams, and reports. Separation and analysis methods, such as filtration, precipitation, pH measurement, and identification of substances. The structure of matter, cycles, and indestructibility visualized using particle models. Atoms, electrons, and nuclear particles. Elements and ions. Some chemical processes in soil, air, and water, and their connection to environmental and health issues, such as the greenhouse effect, water purification, and the spread of environmental pollutants. The teaching material includes study tasks covering three different areas: the methods of chemistry, water, environment, and cycles. Chemical concepts are illustrated with educational images, and there are links to videos demonstrating the surface tension of water, how sulfur and carbon dioxide acidify, and the effect of hydrogen bonding on water in microgravity.
