Descrição da editora

Eisenhower was the greatest general during the greatest war in history. It was a war between good and evil. According to Stephen Ambrose he said, "This war was a holy war. More than any other in history this war has been an array of the forces of evil against those of Righteousness." This war was the pinnacle of his life.

Nothing could compare with some of his triumphs in this war, not even the presidency. For years afterwards people were struck with awe in the presence of this kind, humble man.

He was one of the best football players at West Point. Because of an injury he had to give up playing the game. He became depressed. Encouraged to become a coach he learned to blend star players into a team. This, plus a great deal of hard work, brought him to the attention of the higher ups. In 1943 the president made him Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces. He planned D-Day and many campaigns before and after. He became the most popular man in the United States and England.
