This book and Lou and Junior partially overlap at times; therefore, you will see the same scene from the view of the main character. 

Hi, I'm Isolde. The day I met Hendrix Drummond was the day my mom died. I lost more than my mom though. I lost most of my hearing, and soon enough, I would lose all of it. I'm a senior in high school. I want to do something other than just graduate. My dad is overprotective and will not let me date. I didn't get to say more than hi to Hendrix when I met him. That was years ago. This year, I...tried to run right through him and we share a few classes together, and...he's into me. Really, truly, he likes me and that is the scariest feeling I have known. How am I supposed to date the most popular guy in school, possibly the area, maybe even the state?

I'm running out of patience to be polite, nice, and then…I met someone I liked. I met two someone's and it wasn't until I met Isolde, I realized I didn't want to be with Brooklynn, not like I originally wanted to. I don't even know how I got started in a relationship much less how to end one to start another. This year is messed up and the family curse is upon me and…I hope it doesn't break my heart. I'm trying not to break anyone else's either. I should have skipped this year and went to college instead.
