New networks exploded around the globe and unlimited Internet resources moved 7.7 billion of us toward unknown endings as iPhone information technology merged with Homo sapiens biometrics. We can modify ourselves in today’s world with pocket computers but are the children ready to make such choices? Fingertips stories have helped us understand the power of the iPhone/Internet/information era, putting incredible options within our reach. Reality must now provide us with multiple possibilities and future choices. Storytellers must now determine which of our options will reign supreme.

Our perspectives of technical facts and big data can help us to recognize the tremendous benefits that the ubiquitous smartphones have created. Despite all the advantages, the negative effects of the devices need to be looked at as well. We need broad analyses of today’s smart phones and their apps across all sectors of Government, education, industry and healthcare. I challenge the technical industries to lead the way, in concert with the educational institutions and academic communities, to lay out 21st century pathways that will allow us to bypass or eradicate the pitfalls of social media, technical addiction, personal privacy, national security and cyber terrorism.
