I was a Matinee Idol making lots of money with romantic films. In the meantime, I needed to give the impression that I was not married. Thelma, my private secretary went along with this, but began complaining. She bitterly stated that my popularity was making her miserable. I decided what needed to be done. My producer said I could cease stating I was not married, but there was a caveat. Would the caveat work?
