Ivy's never met a merman. In fact, she thought it was just a rumor that they lived in the lake under the school. When she finally meets one, she finds herself inexplicably drawn to him. My fingers went to the knot on my tie. I undid it, slowly, my eyes on his.

I didn’t bother to flirt this time. I didn’t prance around or put on a show. I simply took my clothes off, dropping them in a pile on the stone floor. He kept eye contact with me the whole time, eyes never straying from my face, though his breathing quickened.

This time I didn’t stop at my bra.

When it joined the rest of my clothing on the floor, I paused a moment, letting him look at me.
