The Amber Stasis

In the small, idyllic town of Amberton, life is governed by routine—until Beacon No. 6 gets stuck. For three weeks, the central traffic light has glowed a persistent, unblinking amber. While Mayor Reuben Cask promises a quick fix from the county, local reporter Emery Pike notices something more disturbing than a simple malfunction: the townspeople are beginning to forget what red and green ever meant.

The Amber Stasis follows Emery as she documents the first signs of the "Amber Drift"—a psychological erosion where rules dissolve into absurdity. From children who see the light as a sentient friend to a "chaos agent" selling imaginary traffic passes, Amberton is drifting away from reality. This is a story about the power of mundane rituals and what happens to a community when they are forced to live in a perpetual state of "caution."
