The Hatchling

Two children stumble upon an egg and hide it in their barn. When it hatches they are startled to find a baby gargoyle inside. Debating on whether or not to keep him, they discover that he is easily hidden when he turns to stone during the day. He grows quickly, and soon begins to make his own decisions.
