After a spate of deaths down the dark Manchester canals, one grieving father couldn't take the police's 'non suspicious' stamp brandished on his deceased son's file. How could so many deaths down the same stretches not raise any alarm bells? The retired businessman couldn't sleep and a voice inside him urged him to look closer, he decided to take things into his own hands and get to the bottom of his loss.

However, there was a problem, where to start looking, who to contact? The local authorities had closed the case.

One night over a bottle of 16 year old scotch, a friend joked about contacting an ex-agent who had been in the country's eye recently for the wrong reasons, the mourning father didn't laugh, but got to his feet, with one thing on his mind, to find him, to get him on board and get to the bottom of his nightmare.
