When Jordan Lawler entered Jax Braden's studio to have her wedding gown designed he can't believe his bad luck: he just found the woman of his dreams but she belongs to another man. She flees in the middle of the appointment without an explanation and he's left with a feeling of loss. They meet again 8 months later and she's again in need of a wedding dress and he just can't say no. He knows he's courting with disaster but just can't refuse.
Jordan has already postponed this wedding four times. She knows something is off in her relationship but she believes it's all because her fiancé is overworked. The truth is he just doesn't seem to care about the wedding, about her desires, and most of all, her wish to look for her long lost sister who disappeared mysteriously. So when Jax and Jordan start working on the design for her dress, she's torn, because Jax seems to be everything she ever wanted. Loyalties will be tested, hearts will be broken, but...then came love.
I have to confess that I was apprehensive when I heard that Jax was going to find himself involved with a client! No no no, the Bradens are loyal to fault, he just won't do it! But I trusted Melissa and what a beautiful story she brought us! She writes in a way that you can tell that Jordan is already out of her relationship - she just hasn't realized it yet or wants to accept it out of loyalty to Todd (what a monumental jerk, btw!). Jax is off-kilter because he can't believe this woman, whom he can't have, is probably the love of his life. Trust me, there is no cheating, just people needing to figure out how to navigate feelings they can't control.
I love their story and how they found their HEA - they are perfect for each other.
If you read Melissa's books, you will be happy to get a glimpse of the lives of many Bradens, Montgomerys and Whiskeys. Yup, even the Dark Knights show up! There is a little bit of mystery about Jordan's sister too. Loved it!
