Publisher Description

When Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert of Green Gables, Prince Edward Island, send for a boy orphan to help them out at the farm, they are in no way prepared for the error that will change their lives. The mistake takes the shape of Anne Shirley, a redheaded 11-year-old girl who can talk anyone under the table. Fortunately, her sunny nature and quirky imagination quickly win over her reluctant foster parents. Anne's feisty spirit soon draws many friends - and much trouble - her way.

Montgomery wrote the novel in the twilight of the day, sitting at her window and overlooking the fields of Cavendish. Since publication, Anne of Green Gables has sold more than 50 million copies.

Great Great Story...

The story starts without Anne (with an "e") and it plods along like and old horse carriage and you think, oh man what a waste of $4.00. But listen on until Anne is picked up at the train station. You will be hooked at that point. You will smile, laugh and I dare say your lip will tremble at times. Well worth the time listening to this great Canadian novel. The narrator does a wonderful job in bringing the characters to life.
Enjoy the escape.

Wonderfully Enjoyable

Having not read the book is over fifteen years, I had forgotten much of the charm of this story. This audiobook brings it all the life. The reader does a good job bringing Avonlea to life. I found myself in my car smiling, laughing and even tearing up to Anne's timeless story. This is a must read (or listen to) for Canadians of all ages. You will become enamored with Anne and those she meets..
