Ever since he became a Christian at the age of forty, it has been Poirot actor David Suchet's dream to make an audio recording of the complete Bible. In between filming the final episodes of Poirot, David Suchet spent over 200 hours in the recording studio to create the very first full-length audio version of the NIV Bible spoken by a single British actor.
This audio Bible is also available as an app. The app contains the full text of the New International Version (British Text), so you can easily navigate the audio or read and listen at the same time.

Clear and organized
Unlike the 4 book gospel version of the bible, this one labels every tract thus making it very easy to find a specific book. The individual chapters are verses are not labelled. It is a lovely book to listen to. The diction is clear and precise.
Disappointed
I was very excited to get this after I heard a preview. The reading is well done (hence two stars not one), and I am a fan of David Suchet.
My first impressions were “Oh no this just has Track 1, Track 2...”. I looked at the number of tracks and it is almost the number of chapters in the bible. Perhaps I could “just” rename all 1000+ chapters? Then I found out the tracks don’t correspond to chapters. ☹️ Even the transition from Old to New Testament happens in mid track. I can’t believe anyone thought that was a good idea.
I feel David Suchet has been let down by the way the tracks have been organized. Surely the vast majority of people who read (or in this case listen to) the bible want to be able to select a book and a chapter (and ideally a verse though I get that this might be unwieldy)?
This recording has so much potential but it becomes all but useless unless you only want to listen to the bible one way: from beginning to end. I dare say I might want to do that one day but having just finished reading it from beginning to end it will be a while.
