APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
In this insightful audiobook, psychologist Robert B. Cialdini demystifies the art of persuasion, explaining the easy—and ethical—way to get to “yes.” Breaking down the process into a handful of crucial principles that play an unconscious role when someone is persuaded, he uses real-life cases to illustrate how each of them works. We were amazed to hear about the power of reciprocity, which in 1985 led Ethiopia—a nation already struggling with a famine—to send emergency aid to Mexico following a devastating earthquake, simply because Mexico had done the same thing for Ethiopia 50 years earlier. Cialdini’s principles are all backed by rigorous research, and it doesn’t hurt that they’re read aloud by steady Superman voice actor George Newbern. This is an invaluable listen for any entrepreneur, but it’s equally fascinating for the insights it offers into human behavior. Whether you’re buying a car or negotiating screen time with a young teenager, Influence is a game changer.
