We loved this fizzy, emotionally satisfying enemies-to-lovers romance wrapped in fake-dating antics. Thirteen years after launching their careers in a breakout hit film, Cynthie Taylor and Jack Turner-Jones are back for a sequel—and back in each other’s lives, despite a very public falling out. But for the sake of the film (and a trailing documentary crew), they have to pretend they’re not just friends, but a couple. Laura Wood toggles expertly between past and present, showing the original spark and spectacular implosion of their youthful relationship alongside their cautious, grown-up reunion. It’s about romantic tension, bad timing, forgiveness, and the messiness of second chances. Cynthie is sharp, guarded, and deeply sympathetic; Jack is infuriating and irresistible in equal measure. The chemistry is undeniable, even when they’re at each other’s throats. Narrators Heather Long and Sam Stafford nail the tone, balancing wit and ache with pitch-perfect comic timing.
