FROM THE #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLING AUTHOR OF GONE GIRL
Fresh from a brief stay at a psych hospital, reporter Camille Preaker faces a troubling assignment: she must return to her tiny hometown to cover the murders of two preteen girls. For years, Camille has hardly spoken to her neurotic, hypochondriac mother or to the half-sister she barely knows: a beautiful thirteen-year-old with an eerie grip on the town. Now, installed in her old bedroom in her family's Victorian mansion, Camille finds herself identifying with the young victims—a bit too strongly. Dogged by her own demons, she must unravel the psychological puzzle of her own past if she wants to get the story—and survive this homecoming.

APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
Like her breakthrough hit Gone Girl, Gillian Flynn's first novel takes us into the disturbing world of an unpredictable character. Narrator Ann Marie Lee nails the complicated Camille: a damaged, jaded, and suspicious newspaper reporter who returns to her hometown to investigate the murders of two young girls. Lee’s performance drew us even deeper into Flynn’s expertly paced story of small-town murder and festering family secrets, turning our expectations upside down with each jolting twist. Listen before you see the HBO miniseries starring Amy Adams.

Great read!
Very interesting read, with a great focus on the complexities of a mother/daughter relationship. The narrator seemed suited to the subject matter, and stepped in to the role of the characters. Highly recommend!
