Publisher Description

My name is Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden. Conjure by it at your own risk. I'm a wizard. I work out of an office in midtown Chicago. As far as I know, I'm the only openly practicing professional wizard in the country. You can find me in the yellow pages, under Wizards. Believe it or not, I'm the only one there.

With rent past due and a decent meal becoming an issue of some importance, Harry needs work, and soon. A call from a distraught wife, and another from Lt. Murphy of the Chicago PD Special Investigation Unit makes Harry believe things are looking up, but they are about to get worse, much worse. Someone is harnessing immense supernatural forces to commit a series of grisly murders. Someone has violated the first law of magic: Thou Shalt Not Kill. Tracking that someone takes Harry into the dangerous underbelly of Chicago, from mobsters to vampires, while he himself is under suspicion of the crimes.

Odd Narration, Great Book

The book itself I have no complaints with. The narration however is another story.

The whole productions feels cheap due to little things, like how you can hear his jacket or clothing rustling in the background. Or how he always pauses at weird times to take a breath or clear his throat, right in the middle of a sentence or thought.

Very distracting. He has a great voice for the character no doubt, but it feels like he didn't even practice for this role at all.

Still, if you are contemplating getting the audiobook, I would say go for it. It is still worth listening to. :)

One of my new favorite authors

Jim Butcher creates a character of interest in Harry Dresden. A character most people can relate to in some way or another. In this book ‘Storm Front’ Jim puts Harry in precarious predicaments that would rattle any readers mind on how he will survive certain death many times through out the chapters.

I was most entertained by Harry’s dry humor that staged and highlighted the sarcasm of a grumpy and nerdy wizard. I should also mention the vast descriptions of places and supporting characters that will put you in the drivers seat the whole book. This is a new favorite book of mine and I can’t wait to read ‘Fools Moon’. I give this book a 5 for 5 because I just couldn’t put it down.
