This marketing classic has been expanded to include new commentary, new illustrations, and a bonus book: The 11 Immutable Laws of Internet Branding
Smart and accessible, The 22 Immutable Laws of Branding is the definitive text on branding, pairing anecdotes about some of the best brands in the world, like Rolex, Volvo, and Heineken, with the signature savvy of marketing gurus Al and Laura Ries. Combining The 22 Immutable Laws of Branding and The 11 Immutable Laws of Internet Branding, this book proclaims that the only way to stand out in today's marketplace is to build your product or service into a brand—and provides the step-by-step instructions you need to do so.
The 22 Immutable Laws of Branding also tackles one of the most challenging marketing problems today: branding on the Web. The Rieses divulge the controversial and counterintuitive strategies and secrets that both small and large companies have used to establish internet brands. The 22 Immutable Laws of Branding is the essential primer on building a category-dominating, world-class brand.
This is an embarrassment to the authors.
I have been aware of Al and Laura Ries and their books “The 22 Immutable Laws of Branding” (published 1998) and “11 Immutable Laws of Internet Branding” (published 2000) for some time, but have never bothered to listen to them (I am an audio book guy) due to their highly “dated” nature. One day, in a hurry, I noticed that the two books had been combined into a unabridged version published 2014. I made the mistake of thinking this would be an updated version of the material. WAS I EVER WRONG!! Do not waste your time on this painfully outdated information filled with equally outdated opinions. Branding has changed so much in 17 years that these books have nothing left to offer and are more likely to hurt you then help. The information in “11 Immutable Laws of Internet Branding” is so off the mark that it became like a comedy show by the end. It culminated in the statement that search engines will have no relevance in the future. Bwahahahahahahah!!!
It is shameful that the authors have taken this painfully outdated material and put a new publishing date on it. I got fooled. Don’t join me.
