A brilliantly imaginative and poignant fairy tale from the modern master of wonder and terror, The Ocean at the End of the Lane is Neil Gaiman’s first new novel for adults since his #1 New York Times bestseller Anansi Boys.
This bewitching and harrowing tale of mystery and survival, and memory and magic, makes the impossible all too real...

This book is simply great. It does everything it sets out to do; answers the questions of the narrator's past and paints a great tapestry of mythical worlds interwoven with ours, all whilst instilling a huge sense of nostalgia for your childhood. Neil Gaiman's language is perfect - I can feel what the narrator feels as a child of age seven, something that I must imagine is hard to convey as an adult. I certainly don't remember how I thought at that age. If you're looking for a novel that's a little different than the stuff filling the bookstores today, and some hauntingly beautiful words that bounce around in your head for days, pick this one up. Gaiman does a great job with the audio narration, which I listen to on car trips, but I love this one so much I will probably buy the physical book as well. Give this one a go!
