Evil has many faces…maybe even yours in this #1 New York Times bestseller from master storyteller Stephen King.
An eleven-year-old boy’s violated corpse is discovered in a town park. Eyewitnesses and fingerprints point unmistakably to one of Flint City’s most popular citizens—Terry Maitland, Little League coach, English teacher, husband, and father of two girls. Detective Ralph Anderson, whose son Maitland once coached, orders a quick and very public arrest. Maitland has an alibi, but Anderson and the district attorney soon have DNA evidence to go with the fingerprints and witnesses. Their case seems ironclad.
As the investigation expands and horrifying details begin to emerge, King’s story kicks into high gear, generating strong tension and almost unbearable suspense. Terry Maitland seems like a nice guy, but is he wearing another face? When the answer comes, it will shock you as only Stephen King can.
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
The Outsider is a novel of two halves: a gritty crime procedural that becomes a deep dive into supernatural horror. Character actor Will Patton (who’s narrated many Stephen King audiobooks) captures the nuances of King's expert storytelling: the pitch-perfect evocation of small-town life, the investigation of a shocking murder, and bone-chilling terror. Patton's seasoned delivery adds real-world gravitas to the mystery and dials up the unsettling tension, making him the ideal guide for one of King's most terrifying novels.

Good book
All I can say is I hope this never happens to me. This book starts off by making you very curious about what the heck is going on. I was scratching me head a lot trying to figure out how things were done. Don’t worry, you’ll know what I mean when you read the book. Good read. Minor point here……..when I was listening to Holly in this novel she spoke like William Shatner in Star Trek……you know long pauses between certain words…..then I read the “Holly” novel and she spoke normally. Just weird for me that the same character in two novels had a completely different way of speaking. She must have got some therapy😀
Great story!!!
Narration was perfect!! Can’t wait to see the HBO version!!!
Good story painful narration
I love audiobooks and have never written a review but was compelled to with this one. The story is good and the narration is OK until we meet and Holly Gibney’s character and dear lord.... I don’t know what the narrator, director, producer, or anybody for that matter, was thinking. She peaks like William Shatner as Captain Kirk in broken phrasing. It’s painful and almost intolerable, REALLY took away from the story and even caused me to become distracted from the story itself. Just AWFUL!!!
