APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
You’ll weep and cheer through this sweeping fantasy where love and destiny clash. Lowly scullery maid Alizeh is actually the secret queen of the kingdom of Ardunia…and the heir to mysterious powers. Thanks to a prophecy that states she’ll one day take back her rightful throne, Alizeh must stay hidden or the current king’s assassins will dispose of her. But that plan goes awry when Alizeh’s noticed by the crown prince, Kamran. As Alizeh fights to stay alive, Kamran wrestles with his duty to his royal grandfather and his growing feelings for Alizeh. This star-crossed romance based on an epic Persian poem will pluck at every last one of your heartstrings. Author Tahereh Mafi infuses the story with fascinating world-building, placing us in the center of a kingdom on the verge of war. Aided by seasoned narrator Kate Reading, This Woven Kingdom makes for an exciting and romantic listen.
Customer Reviews
Best book I read in 2025 hands DOWN.
I will say it did take me a while to really get into the book, but the story, the character and world building, and just the overall mood of this book is absolutely superb. Also the main protagonist is so beautifully written I cannot. Though this book may be difficult to get into, its definitely worth it. (I literally recommend this book to everyone who wants to get into fantasy.)
Good but not something I’ll reread
The premise is amazing and I really, really wanted to like this book but I couldn’t get into some of the character choices. The prince is angry and seems to look down on women. The protagonist reminds me of when male authors write about female characters. I actually looked up the author to see if they were male. I’ll give the second book in the series a chance, but I’m not entirely hopeful.
