•Findley a well-known author in Canadian literature of the late 20th century. His books have been translated into many languages and sold around the world. See especially The Wars and Famous Last Words.  •Twice a winner of the Governor General’s Award: Fiction, The Wars (1977), Drama, Elizabeth Rex (2001)  
•Findley was ahead of his time in his worry about issues we see today: the rise of fascism, climate change and related environmental issues (species loss in the context of global warming, pollution of oceans), censorship and “fake news”, the rights of women and LGBTQ people. 

•Findley was obsessed with a possible WWIII and warned against anti-democratic movements and the escalation of violence.

•Findley was part of the founding season of The Stratford Festival (1953), involved in the early days of CBC, and a founder of the Writers’ Union of Canada
