“I can't even express how much I love this book! I didn't want this story to end!”—Reese Witherspoon

Painfully beautiful.”—The New York Times Book Review

For years, rumors of the “Marsh Girl” have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand. Then the time comes when she yearns to be touched and loved. When two young men from town become intrigued by her wild beauty, Kya opens herself to a new life—until the unthinkable happens.

Where the Crawdads Sing is at once an exquisite ode to the natural world, a heartbreaking coming-of-age story, and a surprising tale of possible murder. Owens reminds us that we are forever shaped by the children we once were, and that we are all subject to the beautiful and violent secrets that nature keeps.

Wonderful read!

I completely fell in love with all of the characters. The twists and turns and emotional journey is a wonderful and fresh presentation to all readers. Highly suggested read.

Where the Crawdads Sing

Fabulous book and the audio presentation was like listening to a play. Tears as we both listened and loved and believed we could feel the trees, smell the ocean and hear the birds. Wonderful. Highly recommend.

A riveting and emotionally charged read

This is one of the best books I have read in a long time. I found myself wondering and alternating between hoping it wasn’t a true story to imaging if it was, then I would want to read Kaya’s books and see her paintings.

The intrinsic details of nature and it’s behaviours weaved with emotional abandonment and abuse topped with painful and beautiful poetry kept me up for hours wanting and not wanting to know what happened next.

The story resonated for me in so many ways. I have renewed appreciation for what I have and the immensely vibrant nature I am surrounded by where I live. I shall spend more time being curious about all creatures and plants I have in my life.

Thank you Delia Owens for your incredible creative ability to write a deeply moving and intellectually arousing story. Colleen Preston
