You Had Your Chance, Lee Burrows is the first book in the Kingsmen Football Stars by Piper Rayne.

Lee and Shayna were sweethearts back in college until a misunderstanding ended them. Eight years later, Shayna takes a job with the San Fransisco Kingsmen Football Club where Lee Burrows is the star quarterback. Lee is determined to wipe their slate clean and move forward, hopefully together.

An interesting beginning to a new series. This one was tough for me to get through. There were a lot of spots in the book where I felt I was getting whiplash. One minute they would be arguing, the next minute everything was fine, and then the next minute it was all someone else's fault. Shayna was the worst for this.

This series has potential going forward and it will be interesting to see the other members of the Kingsmen get their HEAs.

Joe Arden did an awesome job bringing Lee and his story to life. I struggled with Callie Dalton's narrating on this one as it seemed like she was reading bullet points instead of a story.

Get ready for... sports (football), second chance, workplace, enemies to lovers, dual first-person pov.

3.5 Maple Leafs ... 3 Flames

This is the first book in the Kingsmen Football Stars Series, a Sports Romance. The prequel False Start, is a great introduction to Lee and Shayna's story. The story is also interconnected with the Hockey Hotties Series, and the Greene Family Series. Lee and Shayna's story is hilarious, sweet, and heartwarming. Lee, a star quarterback, is handsome, and supportive. Shayna is beautiful, smart, and capable. They are amazing characters. I liked the humor in the story. Joe Arden and Callie Dalton did an excellent job with the narration. I enjoyed it. Looking forward to listening to You Can't Kiss the Nanny, the next book in the series.

If you haven't read False Start ... go back and read it before you read this book. This is a cute romance that had me laughing. The banter between the characters is very realistic especially between the guys on the hockey team. My only negative is that the story was predictable. But I did enjoy it and there was plenty of steam.

This book takes place eight years after the prequel False Start. Lee is a star quarterback and plays for the San Francisco Kingsmen. He has never gotten over Shayna, even though it was him who broke her heart in college. Shayna just accepted her dream job ... a sports medical therapist. The only catch is that it's with the Kingsmen and she's going to have to see Lee on a daily basis. She's just going to have to ignore him. Besides he probably doesn't even remember her anyway. When Lee sees Shayna amongst the medical staff, he can't believe his luck ... he's finally going to get his second chance with her.
