Charles C. Mann has written two books on the subject of Indians in the Americas. The first is very extensively researched, contains a lot of great pictures, introduces the reader to some pretty incredible scientists and looks into the way life may have been, for the inhabitants of the Western Hemisphere around 1491. The story seems to "jump around" a lot, geographically, yet there is nary a page that does not provide a lot of info, and invite the reader to question, and wonder. Mann's viewpoint is one which is easy to agree with, and at times he injects a little humour. I have downloaded 1493, and am looking forward to reading it soon.
