A Family

Guy de Maupassant is a well-known French writer. His novel “Life” is called as one of the best book in the French literature. Guy de Maupassant is a realist. In his stories there is a detailed description of people’s mode of life.


The story “A Family” is about the meeting of two best friends. They were the most intimate friends who liked the same things, admired the same books and whatsoever. But suddenly one of them married.  

The day of the meeting has arrived and they saw each other. The married one had 5 children.  He lived in a small house with his wife and her father – the old man who was very greedy. 

During the dinner Simon told the author how funny that old man was. They subtly showed him some kind of tasty sweet things but didn’t give him anything he was getting angry which was making children laughing.
