A SEAL's Salvation

Hotness but so much tenderness: this is what romance is all about !

Often I read a chapter or two before getting really settled down to read a book. It’s a serious problem with A SEAL’s Salvation because from the beginning, I just didn’t want to put it down. We first meet Brody and Genna as teenagers, and I was pleasantly surprised at how real they both sounded, not stereotypical teens. Genna has always had a crush on Brody, who never gave her the time of day. On a dare, Genna kisses Brody, her father catches them, and their lives are thus changed. Ten years later Brody, who’s now a SEAL as you understand from the title, receives a letter from Genna due to unfortunate circumstances; they’d had no contact during that time, but had not forgotten each other. There are nice twists to this story: Genna is a good girl, but not really by choice, neither is Brody your typical bad boy. Ms. Weber does not dwell on her characters’ physical attributes: they are very good-looking, but not so much we can’t identify with them, instead we get insight into what makes them tick. There are some choice chuckles: how about that reference to Cosmo ? I laughed out loud a few times, but also got tears in my eyes, especially when Genna hears those words she’d always wanted to hear, because I was happy along with her. And that doesn’t happen often for me. This being a romance novel, the characters get their HEA, but a strong, tightly written story takes us there; it’s a quick read but nothing is missing. And if it were possible to give an extra star, it would be for the following reason: perfect editing. Not one single typo, no grammatical mistakes whatsoever, no weird sentences you have to read 3 times before getting the meaning, no abuse of the English language. And that is very rare these days. Another winner from Ms. Weber !
