A Surprise Reward

Jo and Ron were rushing to get to their classroom, but they stopped when they saw a broken bottle in the hallway. Ron wanted to clean it up.At first, Jo hesitated, but she changed her mind when she found a broom and a dustpan and went back to help Ron. The children’s thoughtfulness made them late to class and they missed out on receiving a reward for punctuality. Jo cried and blamed Ron, who felt terrible, but tears turned to smiles when it was announced that they’d both won the “Unselfish Service Award” for keeping others from getting hurt.
