Sage Cynwrig knows her way around a pair of twenty-sided dice and has forgotten more spells than you'll ever know, but when her mother is killed by a weapon of magical destruction, fantasy merges into a bizarre version of reality.Magic is no longer a game. It's real, deadly, and inescapable. Her birthmark morphs into the Tree of Life. Then her boss goes full troll, warts and all. Don't even get her started on the playboy vampire who won't take 'no' for an answer. Oh, and she's pretty sure the shadows have come alive, and are stalking her in the darkness. Worst. Day. Ever!Just when she thinks things can't get any weirder, some supernatural pick-up artist, claiming to work for the A.S.S.E.T. agency, tries to kill her. Why? Because some god gave her a mystical tattoo. Sage is a Terra, a race of people created by the gods to protect magic. Too bad no one bothered to teach her how to use her unique gifts. To catch her mother's killer and recover the WMD, she will have to accept her destiny as a Terra, preferably before she and magic as we know it are wiped from existence.

I have no idea what words to use
As I sit here staring at the blinking cursor, not yet recovered from my story hangover, I realize I have no idea what words to use to convey what I just went through with this book. Especially to be more relevant than the insipid “I liked it!” or “it was great!” without giving away the best parts of the story. This book combines all the twists, deceptions, and double-crosses of my favorite political thrillers with all the forces of the unseen of classic fables, fairy tales, and myths, along with complex, quirky characters that run away with the story. One of this author’s great skills is her ability to create a novice heroine who doesn’t have the first clue about anything happening around her, and then allowing us to learn and experience it all with her. That makes for very compelling reading. I’ve only just finished this book and already I want to know more about Sage and ASSET.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author.
