Later in her life, Eleanor wrote down the many little vignettes from her life that are found in this book. It wasn’t until after her passing that her daughter Fithian began to undertake the project of creating a book from Eleanor’s writings. Among those stories is a remarkable collection of photos that Eleanor had kept throughout her life. Soon it became clear that extensive back story research was essential for factual accuracy and historical context. It would eventually be over twenty years before her memoir would finally come to print. Her unique life story and historical collection of photos have documented a deeply personal view of American 20th century history.
